Ryder loves his hat
Rhett was chasing him I think. Ryder doesn't really like this hat. But at least it's got velcro! lol He can't take it off. |
I was laying on the floor taking pictures. He was running away from Rhett. Rhett was in pursuit. lol |

1st Kings 12:1-15
Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all the Israelites had gone there to make him king.2When Jeroboam son of Nebat heard this (he was still in Egypt, where he had fled from King Solomon), he returned from Egypt. 3So they sent for Jeroboam, and he and the whole assembly of Israel went to Rehoboam and said to him: 4 "Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but now lighten the harsh labor and the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you."
5 Rehoboam answered, "Go away for three days and then come back to me." So the people went away.
6 Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. "How would you advise me to answer these people?" he asked.
7 They replied, "If today you will be a servant to these people and serve them and give them a favorable answer, they will always be your servants."
8 But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him. 9He asked them, "What is your advice? How should we answer these people who say to me, 'Lighten the yoke your father put on us'?"
10 The young men who had grown up with him replied, "Tell these people who have said to you, 'Your father put a heavy yoke on us, but make our yoke lighter'—tell them, 'My little finger is thicker than my father's waist. 11 My father laid on you a heavy yoke; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions.'"
12 Three days later Jeroboam and all the people returned to Rehoboam, as the king had said, "Come back to me in three days."13 The king answered the people harshly. Rejecting the advice given him by the elders, 14 he followed the advice of the young men and said, "My father made your yoke heavy; I will make it even heavier. My father scourged you with whips; I will scourge you with scorpions." 15So the king did not listen to the people, for this turn of events was from the LORD, to fulfill the word the LORD had spoken to Jeroboam son of Nebat through Ahijah the Shilonite.

Romans 12:2
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Obama
Q. Why doesn't Obama pray?
A. It's impossible to read the teleprompter with your eyes closed.
What's the difference between Obama and God?
God doesn't think he's Obama.

More calving
So we went calving again and this is just some open prairie. I love how the sun glows off the grass. The trees in the background are cool, too. What do you think? |
It's a boy!! lol To find out how much the calves weigh we use a tape you can wrap around their hoof. But first you need to know whether the calf is a boy or girl to see which side of the tape to use. |
And more grass. I just love Kansas. :) |

Philippians 4:4-7
"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Kristian Stanfill ~~ Beautiful Jesus
Your love, oh God, displayed for us
As crimson covered over sinless hands
Your majesty for all to see
In raging storms and quiet cloudless days
Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator,
Friend of mine
You're powerful above this world
The universe is under Your command
Your glory shines a Holy light
That leads my heart to praise,
Your Holy name is on my lips
Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator,
Friend of mine
My lips will sing
My heart will bring
Praise to You the Holy King
My lips will sing
My heart will bring
Praise to You, wholly
Beautiful Jesus
Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator,
Friend of mine
(oh, how can it be...)
Perfect in power
Matchless in glory
(You stand alone, Lord)
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator,
Friend of mine
(oh, yes You are...)
Beautiful Jesus

Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator,
Friend of mine

Brandon Heath -- Give Me Your Eyes
I love this song. :)
Looked down from a broken sky
Traced out by the city lights
My world from a mile high
Best seat in the house tonight
Touched down on the cold black tar
Hold on for the sudden stop
Breathe in the familiar shock
Of confusion and chaos
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?
Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me Your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Step out on a busy street
See a girl and our eyes meet
Does her best to smile at me
To hide what?s underneath
There?s a man just to her right
Black suit and a bright red tie
Too ashamed to tell his wife
He's out of work, he's buying time
All those people going somewhere
Why have I never cared?
Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me Your heart for the one's forgotten
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
I've been there a million times
A couple of million eyes just moving past me by
I swear I never thought that I was wrong
Well, I want a second glance
So give me a second chance
To see the way You see the people all alone
Give me Your eyes for just one second
Give me Your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me Your love for humanity
Give me Your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach?
Give me Your heart for the one's forgotten

Cecking calves continued
I thought this one was pretty cool. :) |
Ronan was helping us look for baby calves and he didn't want me to take his picture. lol |
Peek-a-boo!! lol |
Here's Dad is tagging a calf. The cow's tail looks weird but I thought the snow made it blog worthy. |
And, of course, Reid read the whole time. No wonder they named him Reid. lol |

Calving in the snow
Here is our suburban. It's our all time calving and hunting vehicle. :) I think you can really see the snow coming down in this one. |
And this is our house, blanketed in snow. You can see Rhett walking along the sidewalk. lol |
Run away, calf! Be free!! |
This is Kailey's cow, Freckles. lol |
And I just thought this was a cool picture. |

Leaving Eden Tour!!!
This is Kristian Stanfill, one of the artists on tour with Brandon Heath. He's a really nice guy and I got to talk to him about guitars. :) |
Here's Dave Barnes. He is sooo funny! I really like his song God gave me you. And I am pretty sure he's playing a Taylor guitar. I love Taylors, by the way. |
And, of course, here's Brandon Heath. |
Now, his guitar isn't any Taylor I've seen but it is cool. |
And here he is again. But I have one random statement to make. Life would be so much easier on the ears if girls couldn't scream. Well, maybe it's not so random. lol |

Random Quote
"Jesus can't be resident of your life. He must be the president of your life!" -Anonymous
We went to the pet store yesterday!
This is a bearded dragon that was trying so hard to escape. Poor thing.
Here you find his well behaved friend. Sunning on his log like a good little lizard.
Ryder was fascinated with this rat. I might have thought about getting one but mom's allergic to them and hamsters. I'd opt for a hamster though.
Oh, how I just love leopard geckos!
I have no clue what on earth this turtle is doing. He looks like a ballerina. :)
The eyes did not turn out right on this one but I thought I'd put it up anyway because I think it looks cool. Reid was playing a game with him and the cat would chase Reid's hand and try to catch it. It was funny.
This is the naughty bearded dragon. The good thing is he's not so naughty anymore because he was saying "bye-bye!" Feel free to comment. I hope you enjoyed the pics. :)

Rayden gets a parakeet!!!
So we went to Denver yesterday and Rayden got to pick out a parakeet! He had to keep his room clear for two months but he said it was definitely worth it. We went to PetsMart first but parakeets were cheaper at PetCo and there was one on the way out of town. We went to SamsClub afterward and barely made it to PetCo in time. When you have seven kids Sams takes forever. Mom was helping him pick out one that looked like a boy because it's kinda hard to tell.
Lot's of choices!! He got a green one but the blue ones are cool too. I will see if I can post a picture of it later once he gets it trained to sit on his finger.
See that wad o' cash in his right hand? He saved for at least a year to get that!
I believe PetCo has a very happy customer, no?
They all got scared when the PetCo personnel got Rayden's parakeet out so they all bunched up. And Rayden's parakeet escaped from his box in the van on our three hour trip home. I have no idea how but we got him back in without much difficulty. I think. I was asleep most of the way home. :)

Checking calves!!
This is Rhett winking at me. lol Every morning we go down to the calving pasture, about a mile away, and check our cows to see if they had any new babies during the night. It's a lot of fun!!
Bookworm. He read nearly the whole time! Usually he and the other ones roll around and play games, but not today.
This is Ronan with his "baby duck." :)
Some of the cows drinking out of the pond.
Wide open prairie. I just love Kansas!! That is our shop to the far right on the horizon. So we aren't very far away. :)
