Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God.” ~We have all messed up in life and can not longer live in eternity with God. Sin is anything against God's commands.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ~This verse says that even though we mess up, Jesus still loves us and died for us. We don't have to fix our problems before we come to Christ either. Jesus loves you just the way you are and He will give you the strength to change.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ~We are going to spend eternity forever in hell, a horrible place created for satan and his followers. That is the death he is talking about. But the great thing is Jesus, God's only son, came to earth and died on the cross for our sins. He paid the price for me. For you.
Romans 10:9 “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." ~No need for good works or anything else. All you need is to believe and confess.
Romans 10:13 “For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” ~Do you see anywhere where it says "you must work hard so that your good works outweigh your bad."? No! Jesus' precious blood covers your sin. He died for you and your "good works" aren't gonna do anything for you. You could be the best person on earth, but without Jesus your good works are gonna do you no good. All you have to do is believe and confess.
Do you want to believe in Jesus? Here is a prayer you can follow or personalize it if you wish. It doesn't have to be fancy, just be honest.
“Father God, I know that I have broken Your laws and my sins have separated me from You. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward You. Please forgive me, a sinner, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that Your son, Jesus Christ, died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send Your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”
